On Being an Mompreneur: Invitations to Oscar After Party

1654657_10152256194397340_1712280999_nJuggling two children and a career can be tough. But Noelle Fiore was determined to succeed. This self-taught graphic artist is the creative mind behind Create Yours Truly. She designs and sells custom invitations and cards that capture the unique style of each customer.

Noelle took a year to plan the business. With two small children, she would wait until they were in bed and then work into the wee hours of the night researching, learning and practicing before launching the business. She carefully planned the business, tested her products and found the right printer and other suppliers. Noelle then began networking with the wedding industry in Temecula, California and attended wedding trade shows and events.

She branded herself with a unique custom approach where the customer is central to the design. Noelle invites customers to her studio for a consultation so that the card buying exercise is an experience. She prides herself on her customer service as she believes this is a key element to her success. The repeat business from satisfied customers is proof of her winning concept.

She knew she wanted a brick and mortar store. She grew up in an entrepreneurial family and learned through that experience that it is best to keep work and family life separate.

You have got to be able to turn it off when you are home with the kids and husband and able to connect and not be so stuck in the office and in the zone.

A big break came one day through a Google search. A customer who was hosting an Oscar after party found her. This convinced Noelle that good search engine optimization (SEO) is important. While most of Noelle’s customers visit her studio in Temecula, she also has an online store for customers that are not in the Temecula area.

This incredibly talented woman doesn’t stop at a card shop. She is starting a non-profit foundation called Whole Hearted stemming from her experience with her son’s congenital heart defect. While the business is important, so is her family.

Noelle’s tip for new entrepreneurs is to stay open-minded to learning from everyone and anyone. She believes it can be surprising what you learn and what opportunities present when you don’t limit your conversations.  She encourages budding entrepreneurs to not close doors or pigeon hole themselves – let ideas swirl and find new ways to grow and prosper.
